In order to know if you are going to get a patent or a statutory invention registration for your invention, you have to know whether it is marketable or not. It is not a joke when people tell you that getting a patent for your invention is not cheap so to be able to get some kind of return for your investment because your inventions are investments that you invested in personally. You have invested time and money on your invention. So it would be great if it is marketable but the truth is not all inventions can make money.

So in order not to make it too expensive for you, you can get a statutory invention registration just to protect your invention and yourself. What it does is it ties your invention to your name, so nobody can steal it from you and patent it for themselves, besides sometimes the ideas that you have maybe thought of by another person too. Thus, the statutory invention registration gives you the rights to your inventions.

It is important to know if your inventions can sell too, so what you can do is do a research on its returns. You can do a research on its marketability. You can do this by yourself especially if you know how. But you can also hire someone to do it for you. There are companies that specialize in that area or you can contact groups that have a background in entrepreneurship. Check out the colleges near you. There are students who are more than willing to do it for you. You can also seek advice from inventors who have inventions that are similar to what you have. So you can see if it will hit the market or not. But whether or not your inventions are marketable or not, it is always best to protect what you have, so get a statutory invention registration for it.
